This journey began not just with bees or words, but with a little girl who changed everything.
Leila, our daughter, was the spark behind the Leila’s Light book series — a collection of children’s stories filled with wonder, self-discovery, and deep care for the earth. Her imagination and natural wisdom awakened something new in how I see the world. And from that — a writer was born.
Today, The Beekeeper Writer brings together our sustainable honey brand Mel da Terra and the Leila’s Light children’s books under one soulful roof.
From hive to page, it’s all part of the same dream:

Our Journey So Far
What began with a handful of beehives and a bedtime story has grown into something far more meaningful — a way of life.
In the quiet hills of central Portugal, we set out to live more simply, more truthfully. With ten beehives humming gently on one hectare of land, our mission was clear: to care for the earth, produce honey naturally, and live in rhythm with the land. From those first jars of raw wildflower honey came Mel da Terra — honey of the earth, crafted slowly, with reverence and care.
Around the same time, another seed was planted. Inspired by our daughter Leila’s bright imagination and spirit, we began writing stories that would later become Leila’s Light — an eco-conscious book series awakening young minds to the power of truth, nature, and their own inner light.
As these two passions — beekeeping and writing — grew side by side, The Beekeeper Writer was born. More than a brand, it’s a living philosophy. A way to reconnect. To protect what matters. And to leave something beautiful behind.
